WoW Patch 3.2

Patch 3.2

Well its official folks, Blizzard has released patch 3.2. This patch carries a bunch of changes which you can read  here.

I have been playing WoW for almost a year. Here recently I quit because of work/school stuff but now that its summer I renewed my subscription last night. Just in time for big changes. I will be spending my night learning all of the new changes this patch has to offer!

X-Plane 9

Wow. I came home today to find a package in the mail for me. The package had come from South Carolina. What could be in the package you might ask? Well judging from the title I would say you are all smart enough to figure it out. I am the newest armchair pilot and cannot wait to try this game out. I also purchased a logitech extreme 3D joystick to play with. Will post my comments and maybe a review soon!

Electric Guitar

Just a short update since I haven’t posted anything in a while. I have been playing the heck out of my squire strat. I have come to realize why so many guitar players play the electric guitar. IT’S A BLAST!!! I love how you can let notes ring out forever and also how you can give it a little different sound with the whammy bar. Do not get me wrong, I still love the sounds you get from an acoustic, but it is still not the same. I get a rockers attitude about me when I’m playing the electric. I get a better feel for the music. What do you guys think? Do any of you play the guitar? If you do not play, which style of guitar do you prefer?

Fender Guitar

So I finally did it. I bought my first electric guitar and its a… FENDER! Love the classic guitar look as well as the color! I cannot put this thing down. The sound is amazing, and it is a really nice feel for a $200 electric guitar. I also bought a Fender amp that sounds great as well. I can’t wait to start learning rock songs.

Google’s Chrome OS

Alas, poor Microsoft. First Google dominates the search engine market. Then Google enters the Web-based e-mail market. Android invades Windows Mobile’s turf. And then Google jumps into the browser market with Chrome. Tonight Google has upped the ante yet again with its plans for a new operating system based on Google Chrome.

The new operating system, aptly named Google Chrome OS, will be an open-source operating system initially geared toward netbooks, Google announced in a blog posting late Tuesday evening.

Google claims the new operating system, which should ship on netbooks starting in the second half of next year, will be “lightweight” and heavily Web-centric.

With Chrome OS, Google plans to follow the same formula it used with its browser: “Speed, simplicity and security are the key aspects of Google Chrome OS. We’re designing the OS to be fast and lightweight, to start up and get you onto the web in a few seconds,” Google stated in its announcement. “The user interface is minimal to stay out of your way, and most of the user experience takes place on the web.”

Google will also make security a high priority with Chrome. The company notes it will be “going back to the basics and completely redesigning the underlying security architecture of the OS so that users don’t have to deal with viruses, malware and security updates. It should just work.” As you might assume, that is a pretty ambitious goal, considering every current operating system sees its fair share of security flaws and patches.

Chrome OS will run on x86-based PCs, as well as machines built around the ARM processor (such as so-called smartbooks).

So what does this mean for Android? According to Google, Chrome OS is in no way connected to Android, and that while Android was created with smartphones, netbooks, and other devices in mind, Chrome OS “is being created for people who spend most of their time on the web” and will be able to run on practically any PC that meets the minimum requirements, ranging from netbooks on the low-end to high end power desktops.

When Google first introduced the Chrome browser last year, I remarked in my review that “In the past there has been some speculation that Google would develop its own operating system, but I think that Chrome’s launch makes one thing is clear: The Web browser is Google’s operating system.”

While Chrome OS goes beyond being a mere Web browser, Google’s vision of the future is as clear with Chrome OS as it was with the introduction of the Chrome browser: The Web is the OS of the future, and a modern OS needs to be built around the Web first. In fact, in the announcement, Google flatly states, “For application developers, the web is the platform.” Even better: “And of course, these apps will run not only on Google Chrome OS, but on any standards-based browser on Windows, Mac and Linux thereby giving developers the largest user base of any platform.”

So has Google just killed the operating system war? Or is it just getting started? Share your thoughts and post a comment below.

Looking to get a new guitar

Many of you might not know that I love to play guitar. Being a beginner (only been playing 6 months), I am finally ready to buy my first electric guitar. I was told by many people to buy an acoustic to really get my finger strength built up so that when I do move to an electric it will seem easy. I followed that advice and bought a Yamaha acoustic guitar. Thing is great! I quickly realized that I wanted to play more electric guitar songs than acoustic. I have searched the web high and low reading reviews on different guitars. I have finally found one I liked that got good reviews. Remember, I’m a beginner and don’t want to spend a fortune just yet. I was thinking about purchasing the Fender pictured above and wanted to get some of your comments on if it would be a good purchase or not. Let me know what you think!

Apple TV 2.4 Update Now Available

From MacRumors:

Apple has quietly released a new software update to the Apple TV which brings the system software up to version 2.4. The exact changes have not yet been listed by Apple so we can’t tell you everything that’s been changed just yet. Apple typically updates this support document with the latest changes. The last update was the 2.3.1 update from February 2009.

One particularly notable feature however appears to be support for the newest version of Apple’s Remote app [Free] which adds touch screen gesture support for controlling your Apple TV.

Apple TV’s menu options can now be navigated with simple flick gestures. Similarly Video and Audio have new flick gestures that can be used to advance, rewind and replay. See the screenshots above.

Update: Apple has updated its support document with details of the features in Apple TV Software Update 2.4:

Remote app directional control: Control your Apple TV with simple finger gestures via the Remote app. This feature requires Remote 1.3 running on an iPhone or iPod touch with iPhone OS 3.0.

Flickr Search: Search Flickr photo tags to find recently updated photos of interest. Save searches to quickly find new photos or use as a screen saver for Apple TV.

New view options: View movies By Genre, By Movie, or Unwatched. View TV Shows and Podcasts By Date, By Show, or Unwatched.

Updated transport and chapter modes: During video playback, click right or left to fast forward or rewind. Additional clicks increase the speed. Click down to show chapter markers.

Personally I do not own an Apple TV, but this seemed like a GREAT improvement so I thought I would share!
